Pre-Season Coach's Report

Another season is all but upon us and we hope that the whole playing group is ready
to take on the challengers that lay ahead for our club, as we look to consolidate
our position across grades. Indoor training has been underway for 5 weeks now
and the numbers have been extremely pleasing with 45+ players having trained
over the 5 week period. Of those 45 a solid core of 15-20 players have made the effort
to get down to the majority of these training sessions and we are sure you guys will be
rewarded with great personal results in the first few rounds of the season.

During these training sessions, when we have been talking about the season ahead,
you will have heard us speak of being well prepared and ready to hit the ground running
come Round 1, so over the next few weeks we will be looking to really step up training.
Please come prepared to work on those things that may have let you down in the past.
Use your net time wisely when you get the chance to bat and when you get a ball in
your hand, try working on developing some consistency with bowling line and length.

As we now know we will have to be off Cheong Park until the end of October and during
this time we will be using Glen Park Reserve as our outdoor training base. The oval at
Glen Park is in very good condition and we are planning to get outdoors ASAP to work
on catching and ground fielding practice as well as some agility/fitness training to make
us all that bit sharper in the field - Details to follow.

Team Captains

A few weeks back the club invited applications for the position of captains for the the 2nds,
3rds and 4ths eleven teams. The club has received a number of applications and will be
looking to make a decision on these positions in the very near future. Anyone else who is
keen to apply should make their intentions know to Duncan Tull ASAP.

To wrap up, we would like to once again say that we are extremely happy with the
commitment being shown towards training so far this pre season, but for us as a club to
achieve the results we have set ourselves, we are going to have to work even harder.
Cricket should be fun and enjoyable and this will come when we have some success
and that success will only be achieved with hard work, commitment and preparation.

We hope that everyone (players & supporters) are looking forward to the coming season
with as much enthusiasm and eagerness as are the 2 of us.

GO DOGS!!!!!
