Senior training will recommence on Tuesday 6th January at
6pm.
All Grades play on Saturday, 10th January 2009.
All grades play One Day Games. Chandler Shield starts at 11am.
A disappointing end to 2008 for most of our senior sides.
Only Nicko's mighty 4th's saluted the judge in the last game before
the break.
The Ones continue to battle hard, but are sure to have asked Santa
to fill the clubs
stockings with some batsman. A couple of big efforts in the new year
will be enough
to keep them in the top flight. At years end the boys find
themselves in 11th spot.
The mighty two's have started to find some form in recent week led
by the two big men.
This week however, the boys let a win slip through their fingers in
a 1 run defeat.
At year end the boys are 7th and looking for a quick start in '09.
The threes have been our most consistent side in 08, but struggled
to post a decent score
in their top of the table clash with Ranges, thankfully our lower
order has been keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Santa will
hopefully be delivering some discipline for the top order in 09.
At stumps in '08 the 3rds are in 3rd spot.
The Hamer boys or Nicko's Knights have a tough battle every week
with constant team
changes and late withdrawals decimating their side each week.
However they continue
to put their best foot forward and got home against St Andrews on
Saturday.
The lads are in 5th position as the field turns for home in '09.
The Bulldogs had some mixed results in the just completed round.
The Firsts battled hard and showed plenty of ticker to bat out day 2
against the
high flying North Ringwood and stave of outright defeat.
Ash Viney 29 and Rocket McArthur 22 lead the way. Keep working hard
boys.
The Barsenbach express again caused Wantirna South headaches as he
collected another
6 wickets to go with a lazy 7 in the first innings all but secured
an outright for the
Bulldogs in the seconds.
The Thirds had a tough battle to overcome St Andrews, after a middle
order collapse saw them struggling. A gutsy 50 by Fodes and some
late order runs by Dave Perry 28, Steve Hickman and Chris Copeland
23 saw the Doggies home by a handful of runs.
The Fourths had another tough day at the office against Knox City,
Hamer and Howson
were solid with the ball and Chappy was the main contributor with
the bat in both
doggies turns at bat.
Mixed results for the doggies in week 1 of the current round.
The Firsts struggled but batted out 68 of their 80 overs.
The Seconds lead by that guy in the creams destroyed Wantirna South
for 46
with Barsenbach 7/17 and DeAngelis 3/15, the skipper said after the
match that Dench was outstanding in the field as well and that there
was no need to unleash the swing of Lacey.
The thirds bowled tight to restrict St Andrews to 157 off 70 overs
with Duguid 2/14 getting the early break throughs, well supported by
the good Perry 3/13 and slider Hickman 3/29.
The Fourths have an uphill battle after being dismissed for 98 after
a massive collapse.
Chappy was the pick of the batsmen with 32.
Training will recommence back at Cheong Park this Thursday
13th November.
