South Croydon Girls

Junior Girls Moving On Up
Added: 1st October 2011.

2011/12 marks the end of an era for the club as we farewell a number
of our pioneering girls to the Premier women's competition.

We started our program in 2008/09 and for 2 years fielded an all
girls team in the RDCA U14 competition. Last year we fielded a
side of 7 girls and 4 boys in a mixed team.

This season Ringwood Cricket Club have entered a side in the
Premier 2's competition and naturally we have encouraged
our girls to seek higher honours in keeping with the ideals of
the Cricket Victoria development pathway.

At present Jas Harrison, Tayla Gregory, Meg and Sam Hickman,
Krissy Dundas, Olivia Aing, and Grace Mills are training with
Ringwood and we wish them all luck as part of the first
female district Premier cricket team to represent the
Outer East's Premier Cricket club.

Time permitting some of the girls will help fill in for our
U16' or U18's if we are short in the mornings.

As a club we remain very pro-active as far as girls playing cricket
and we will continue to offer girls interested in cricket an opportunity
to play in a side that suits their ability.

We hope we can continue to develop girls into competitive
and succesful district cricketers and also
provide pathway opportunities.

  Well Done Megan!
Added: 3rd November 2010.
Megan Hickman has been selected in the Victorian Under 15 squad
to play in the national championships in Sydney Nov 30th-Dec 7th.
Well done Megan on making it through a long trials process.
Unlike many female players our girls, including other Victorian
representatives Ash Peck, Sam Hickman, and Siobhan Murphy have
put themselves up against boys and men in juniors and senior cricket.
   Now that's the Bulldogs spirit!

SCCC Girls Shine at MCG
Added: 16th March 2010.
The Melbourne Cricket Club hosted a training day for
female cricketers on Sunday 28 February.

South Croydon sent 10 girls along who were welcomed by MCC Vice President Bob Lloyd to The Albert Ground in St Kilda.

Our girls conspicuously made up 25% of attendees and spent the morning in the nets with former Australian and Queensland cricketer Adam Dale who now captain coaches the MCC District team.

The coaches were very impressed with the high standard of our girls and the positive comments about the "South Croydon girls" not only left a
great impression of our club but also opened up a new pathway opportunity and communication channel for the club with the iconic MCC. Well done girls!
